Peer backup network?
So my earlier post about looking for a backup service attracted an ad. Can't exactly blame them, since I was more or less asking for tips, but I think posting anonymously was kind of cheesy.
But anyway... I went to get them a look just to see what they were about. DO NOT WANT!
Zoogmo is a peer-to-peer backup network... my data gets stored on your computer. Under massive encryption, of course, so no one else can access it. And I choose who I back up to... friends, family and colleagues presumably, and I can back up redundantly. But there's just something weird about backing up my data to machines that are not in a controlled environment. I'm wondering, when the emergency occurs and I need all my data back, how much trouble is it going to be?
(Of course, it's Windows-only, I need a traditional ssh/rsync based Linux solution. So even if it didn't give me the heebie-jeebies, I couldn't use it.)
