More on bookmarking and tags
I've about made up my mind how to use http://del.icio.us/.
I've "given in" and forced it to more or less do what I want with hierarchical tags...
geocaching, geocaching.com, geocaching.tools, geocaching.swag, geocaching.info, geocaching.info.forums, etc.
Group those into a "geocaching" tag bundle and the Firefox plugin does almost what I want of it. I just wish del.icio.us would recognize that geocaching.tools was a subset of geocaching, and I could just bundle "geocaching.*" and not have to go change my bundle list every time I add a new sub-category.
Every geocaching bookmark gets the main category "geocaching" tag, so I can always find them all.
This pretty much fixes my problem with "geocaching tools" being distinctly different from "woodworking tools" which are again different from "political tools". (Not that I bookmark the latter, but you get the idea.) I'm forcing tags to have context, against the better judgment of the "social media" pundits.
I'm still juggling the awkwardness of wanting to do things like cooking.recipes.breakfast... that's a pretty long tag. Do "recipes" really need to be a sub-category of "cooking"? Probably not. So I have to be careful not to get carried away.
Now, if I could just have bundles-of-bundles.
