There's something of a stigma amongst elitists about patronizing corporate guitar vendors like GC, but I'll admit that I've enjoyed pretty much every visit. There's still enough of a kid in me, even after the ridiculous number of instruments that have passed through my hands over the years, that I get a little thrill out of walking past entire walls full of guitars. And the staffers are, by and large (at least here in town), pretty cool people.

Of course, I almost took a job at Guitar Center once, but turned it down because they were paid purely on commission... I have a family to support.

Yamaha makes some surprisingly high-quality lower- and mid-tier acoustic instruments. I've also had kinda hot-and-cold experiences with Takamine... they make some really great guitars, but I've noticed I broad disparity in sound quality from one axe to the next.

I'm glad you found something. Me and my guitars... we've been through a lot together. I still have my first axe, the strat I bought with my money from my first job when I was 18... Roulette refers to it as my "other girlfriend"...
